Hearing Australia seeks new Board Director to help shape the future of hearing health

29 September 2025

Hearing Australia is inviting applications for a new part-time Board Director to join its purpose-driven leadership team.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction of a leading Federal Government business enterprise that has supported over two million Australians with hearing loss since 1947.

As a Board Director, you’ll help guide Hearing Australia’s commercial growth and digital transformation, ensuring the organisation continues to deliver high-quality hearing services to thousands of children and adults each week.

You’ll work closely with the Chair, fellow Directors, and the Executive team to represent the interests of Hearing Australia to the Minister and key stakeholders.

“We’re looking for someone who shares our passion for improving hearing health and who brings strong governance, commercial insight and a commitment to public service,” says Elizabeth Crouch AM, Chair of Hearing Australia.

“This is a chance to help shape the future of hearing care in Australia and make a real difference in the lives of our clients.”

We’re looking for individuals with:

  • Strategic leadership and governance experience.
  • Commercial acumen and business transformation expertise.
  • Strong financial and risk management skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication abilities.
  • Public sector governance knowledge - or the ability to develop this quickly.
  • A diverse background, including lived experience with hearing loss.

This is a Ministerial appointment under the Australian Hearing Services Act 1991.

The Board meets five times annually in Sydney, with additional virtual meetings. Directors are also expected to visit Hearing Australia centres and engage with staff and clients.

If you’re passionate about making a meaningful impact in hearing health, we encourage you to apply.

Applications close 25 October 2025
